An arrest has been made in today’s (Oct. 25) shooting at Birdies Food and Fuel at 1900 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.
Tyler Hill has been arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, one count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of illegal carrying of a weapon.
Hill, who surrendered to detectives, is being held at Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.
St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s detectives reported Hill and an acquaintance were involved in a verbal altercation while at Birdie’s. Upon exiting the store, Hill removed a handgun from inside of his clothing and shot the acquaintance once, before fleeing the scene.
The injured subject, a 24-year-old male from Destrehan, was taken to Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner by a civilian vehicle, where he received treatment for an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
