Luling’s new upscale Mexican restaurant now open

Las Rosas Mexican Grill in Luling is now open, and at over 7,000 square feet the new restaurant is poised to serve hundreds of hungry customers at a time.

The restaurant is located at 12807 Hwy 90 in Luling in a spot previously occupied by three separate businesses. The expansive eatery boasts upscale Mexican cuisine, a brand new kitchen build, a bar area that seats over 100, and over 50 entrees.

Texas native Victor Garcia and Luling native Erik Donnaud are behind the operation. The two men met after Hurricane Ida brought Garcia, who was working in hurricane restoration, to St. Charles Parish. He met Donnaud during a hurricane-related project and the two men forged a fast friendship.

“One day Victor called me and asked if he could borrow my grill so that he could cook for his crew,” Donnaud remembers. “Those were the best tacos I ever had in my life.”

Garcia said it was easy to decide to put down roots in St. Charles Parish.

“Everyone was asking me what I was going to do when everything was rebuilt from the hurricane, and here we are,” he said laughing. “I’ve been involved in the restaurant business since I was born. My parents have always been in the restaurant business.”

Donnaud said he was initially unaware of Garcia’s restaurant background, but that he’s certain the St. Charles Parish community will appreciate the new restaurant and Garcia’s oversight of the operation.

“Victor sets a high standard and doesn’t come off of that,” Donnaud said.

Work on the restaurant started in July, and Garcia said he is excited for the local community to experience the quality of the restaurant’s products and top of the line bar offerings.

“We have fresh, homemade flour tortillas and will be offering delivery with our own drivers,” he said. “Our signature dish is definitely our fajitas.”
