A Luling man who is charged with killing his father has been found unfit to stand trial because he suffers from auditory hallucinations and religious delusions, according to a psychiatrist who examined him.
Stanley Robinson, of 1005 Kinler St. in Luling, allegedly got into a fight with his father, Stanley Robinson Sr., last November. The fight quickly escalated and a woman who was hiding in the bathroom heard the two arguing, followed by gun shots.
A short while later, the woman exited the bathroom and found Stanley Robinson Sr. lying on the ground. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.Robinson Jr. was quickly apprehended and charged with murder.
Robinson Jr. was diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was 17 and continues to suffer from psychotic symptoms, according to court records.
Four doctors all reported that Robinson Jr. is currently unfit to stand trial.
“He does not possess a rational, as well as factual understanding of the proceedings against him,” one of the doctors said.
The doctors are split on whether Robinson Jr. can regain competency in jail or be transferred to a psychiatric facility.
A hearing on the matter is scheduled for later this month.
