Four armed suspects kick in door, rummage through house and hold boy hostage

A 13-year-old St. Rose boy was kidnapped by armed men and driven to New Orleans after four black males broke into his house, threatened his 42-year-old father and stole the family’s vehicle.

The boy was later recovered unharmed after being dropped off by the men on the corner of Claiborne and Martin Luther King Rd.

The boy’s father, Ronald Young, told sheriff’s officers that he and his son were each in their respective bedrooms when he heard a loud crash outside of his bedroom door. Young then opened the door of his bedroom, saw the four males who had kicked down his front door, and returned inside his room to retrieve his gun.

However, by the time he had gotten his weapon, the invaders had already entered his son’s room and had taken the boy hostage. With a gun held to his son, Young was forced to surrender his pistol.

The robbers then ordered the two hostages into the dining room and they began to rummage through various rooms in the house. They then demanded money and jewelry, but when Young said he didn’t have any on hand, they instead forced the 13-year-old to get his father’s keys.

Young told police that the men  kidnapped his son and began to drive off with his vehicle. At just about that time, an acquaintance of Young, Adam Scott, happened to be driving by the house. Young flagged down Scott and told him about what had just happened.

The two men then began to chase the stolen vehicle and followed it for one quarter of a mile on LA48. However, one of the suspects fired a shot at Scott’s car, which struck the windshield and forced the two men to give up the chase.
Shortly after returning home, Young received a call from his son and a detective picked up the 13-year-old.

The suspects will face charges of attempted first degree murder, aggravated armed burglary, aggravated kidnapping and auto theft.

All suspects were wearing white dust masks when they made entry into the residence and Young was not able to remember any type of clothing description for any of the suspects.
