Two Des Allemands residents were robbed at gunpoint July 19, and the unknown assailants were looking for drugs that they believed the couple had in somewhere in their home. Rene Dufrene and Charles Hunt, of 134 Wenger Rd, reported that someone knocked at their door at 11:44 p.m.
Hunt told deputies he opened the door and two black men wearing ski masks and black clothing rushed inside and hit him over the head with what appeared to be a small machine gun.
Dufrene told deputies that the robber then pointed the gun at her and asked “Where’s the dope?”.
Dufrene told the robbers, that she didn’t have any dope and to take her purse and money and leave.
One of the men rummaged through the Dufrene’s home for a few minutes, while the second man who was holding the gun, took her purse and Hunt’s wallet and hit Hunt over the head a second time before leaving.
The second robber then pointed a large hand-gun at Dufrene’s head and told her he “hoped she was not lying about the dope” and left.
Dufrene described the robbers as black males about 6 feet tall and weighing 150 pounds. She told police that she thinks the robbers were looking for someone else. Hunt was taken to St. Charles Parish Hospital were he was treated for his head injuries.
The robbers got away with a cell phone, 2 wallets and $400 cash.
