When Dana Majoria or his brothers need something taken care of at Majoria’s Supermarket, they know they can rely on Iris Bergeron.
Bergeron has been a part of the Majoria’s staff for the past 26 years, hired first as a cashier and working her way into and through a number of other jobs with the store, including stocking the shelves and — currently — finding herself in charge of store inventory.
“She’s just devoted,” said Majoria, who owns the longtime Boutte supermarket with his brothers. “She treats her job like she owns the store. She makes it hers. She has a truly fantastic work ethic and she invests herself in whatever she does.”
Bergeron said her days stay extremely busy, but she enjoys knowing that she’s built a reputation as someone who flat out gets things done.
“I come in and know what I have to do, so I get with it,” Bergeron said. “I make sure everything is stocked and at the right price. If we’re low on product or something’s not on sale, I change it and make sure it doesn’t run out. So, I wear a few different hats here.”
When Bergeron originally put in a job application with Majoria’s, she didn’t envision such a long run with the team.
“I really didn’t,” Bergeron said. “But it’s close to home and the people here are like family.”
Majoria said she’s been a rock for the store.
“Iris takes her job seriously,” Majoria said. “She shows up when she’s sick and she does an excellent job. When you ask her to do something, you know it’s going to be done right. She’s worked into a routine where you don’t have to ask anymore.
“She’s just an excellent employee and another part of our family. We’re lucky to have her.”
