Witness thought he dropped a bomb
A 54-year-old Destrehan man will have to pay a hefty fine after dropping a container next to a live Entergy underground transformer.
Though David Robin, of 130 Nottaway Drive, was just littering he has to spend $1,693.04 to reimburse three different agencies because a witness thought the container was an explosive.
After Robin dropped the container, a witness called the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, who responded as if the device was a bomb. An explosive ordinance disposal team from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office eventually determined the container was not explosive.
Still, Robin was ordered to pay the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office $811.21 and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office $423 since they were called to deal with the issue. He also must pay Entergy $458.83 because they had to shut off the transformer.
Robin was placed in a pre-trial intervention program, which means that his charges will go away once he makes the payments.
