Cypress Lakes aims to welcome more members

Cypress Lakes Country Club only wants to get bigger and better as the year rolls along. Already with 350 members enjoying the club amenities, Cypress Lakes spokesman Jeff McWhirter said the hope is that even more people of the local community decide to become regulars at the club’s golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts and other areas.

“We want as many members as possible,” McWhirter said. “We’d like to get our community more involved and we want everybody and anybody to come out and enjoy our golf facility and country club.”

The club is located in Ormond and features as one of its trademarks an 18-hole golf course that spans 6,556 total yards. Members receive preferred tee times and are able to play in member tournaments while also earning discounts for other tournaments.

Family memberships are $160 a month, including golf, tennis and swimming privileges. Cart fees are not included in this figure. We have an $85 per month tennis membership that includes tennis and swimming. We also have a social membership for $55 per month that includes swimming and social club events.

McWhirter said a single golf membership is $150 per month for anyone who lives outside the zip code of 70047. That includes cart plans that allow a member to play an abbreviated round of golf without paying the price for a full day’s effort.

“So, if you get off work at 6 and want to come play as many holes as you can before it’s dark, you’re not overpaying for that,” McWhirter said. “You already have your plan set. You get in your cart and go.”

Anyone who joins before April 30 with a 12-month agreement will have their initiation fee and first month’s dues waived.

The club’s completely re-done tennis courts and surrounding areas with new fencing, wind screens and a resurfaced playing area.

Meanwhile, there is a large swimming pool and also a kiddie pool on the grounds — those play host to the Cypress Lakes Gators swim team, while regular swimming lessons by Cypress Lakes’ coaches are available. The pool area is open for six days a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

“It’s great for a social activity,” McWhirter said. “You get use of very large pool during summer time, and kids can take advantage and participate with our swim team and have a really good time as well. There’s something for the whole family.”

Lessons also extend back to the golf course, conducted by McWhirter, the club’s Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf.

Cypress Lakes also hosts several kinds of events, such as weddings, corporate outings and lunches and other meetings and private get-togethers.
