With school just about to start once again, it represents a great time for parents to bring their children in for dental check-ups and cleanings at Crescent City Dentistry (CCD) in St. Rose.
CCD’s Dr. Cleopatra Thompson said this time of year represents an opportunity for parents and dentist to discuss any changes that may have occurred in their child’s mouth since their last check up and for any dental needs to be addressed before school commitments take hold. This is important in the event a surgical procedure is needed, Thompson said, so that the child can be completely recovered before school starts.
Also, the dentist can evaluate how well the child is brushing and complete preventative procedures such as placing sealants on the teeth and providing a fluoride treatment in conjunction with the dental cleaning, she added.
It’s all part of forming the best smile for every patient, something Thompson has always found one of the most rewarding aspects of her job.
“It’s so fulfilling to see a patient who had very little confidence in their smile transform with the aid of modern dentistry into a very confident person who now loves their smile,” she said.
One service Thompson is excited to offer is Fastbraces, which allows patients to correct the positioning of their teeth in a shorter period of time than traditional braces. Crescent City Dentistry is offering a promotional price of $2,500 (down from the usual $3,995 price) and a free consultation for Fastbraces.
While traditional braces can take up to two years or more before treatment is complete, Fastbraces treatment can take less than a year.
“This is great news because the less time braces are on your teeth the healthier they remain. Wearing braces requires meticulous brushing and flossing several times a day,” Thompson said.
Though this represents an optimal time for a child’s checkup, once school begins CCD strives to give patients the most avenues possible to receive their dental care. One way of doing that is through flexible scheduling — CCD offers late appointments on Wednesdays, extending its hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., making it easier for children and parents alike to address their dental needs.
“Most practices are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 or 5 p.m., and these hours can make it difficult for patients to come to the dentist without potentially taking a day off from work,” Thompson said. “That’s why we offer late appointments on Wednesdays.”
Other services offered for adults include Botox and Juvederm, non-invasive cosmetic procedures that are fully completed at the office and that work to temporarily smooth and soften frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet and smile lines. Lip enhancements are also offered along with free consultations to discuss each option.
