Byrd sponsors Luling Parade Festival, highlights outreach programs

As Lul rolls this weekend, opportunity knocks.

Former Hahnville High School and University of Miami football star LaRon Byrd and the Louisiana Workforce Commission are sponsoring the Luling Parade Festival, which will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Thrift Village parking lot on Paul Maillard Road. The event will spotlight community outreach programs and provide business exposure to members of the community.

Workforce Commission Director Tommy Scott said the event is intended to raise awareness of services and opportunities in the community that residents may not know are available, such as those related to finances, marketing and promotion of business. Booths will be set up for different programs, services and vendors with representatives and information available for each.

There will also be over 20 business investors in attendance, providing local entrepreneurs the chance to garner some business exposure.

For more information, one may call the Louisiana Workforce Commission at (985) 783-5030 or e-mail socialviewingfest@gmail.com.
