Business aspirations, networking opportunities can be furthered at Luling Parade Festival

LaRon Byrd's We Made Organization sponsors Sunday's event.

More than 20 business investors will be in attendance Sunday when the Luling Parade Festival returns for the event’s third annual run.

On Feb. 18, the festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 737 Paul Maillard Road in Luling. University of Miami football star LaRon Byrd’s We Made non-profit organization is sponsoring the festival, which spotlights community outreach programs and provides business exposure to members of the community.

The event is intended to raise awareness of services and opportunities in the community that residents may not know are available, such as those related to finances, marketing and promotion of business. The aforementioned business exposure comes directly, as more than 20 investors will be in attendance to lend an ear to local entrepreneurs.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. and run through 3:30 p.m.

More than 30 vendors will be on hand with live music setting a fun atmosphere. There will also be spacewalks and a gaming bus for additional entertainment options.

First and foremost, however, is the chance for local entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas for the potential investors attending the festival, as well as to find networking opportunities with others in the community.

Those with an eye on growing an existing business, or planting the seeds for a new one could find a clearer direction could well find that there, but Byrd has also made clear that he’d love to see parents attend along with their younger sons and daughters so that they might start dreaming on what’s possible – and maybe even formulate an idea or two. After all, much of the motivation behind the event comes down to spreading the word about opportunities many don’t realize are available in St. Charles Parish.

“You’d like them to see that you have to start somewhere, right?” Byrd said. “Be it your business in St. Charles Parish, or New Orleans, wherever it might be, this is all a process. You’re putting your product and your services out there for the public.

“It’s all about encouraging businesses. Yes, you have that pop-up shop, but how can we build from that? It’s access to learn about business credit and loan … it’s valuable information, and it’s all in a comfortable setting, in your community, to help you grow.”
