Burger King employee threatens co-worker with shotgun

Boutte man pleads guilty to aggravated assault

Herschel Hill of Boutte was recently sentenced to six months in prison stemming from an incident in which the then-employee of the Destrehan Burger King threatened a co-worker with a shotgun during an argument at the restaurant.

The 28-year-old, a resident of 398 Ash St. in Boutte, was arrested Dec. 20 and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Hill and his co-worker argued over closing duties at work.

Hill then allegedly went to his car and retrieved a black shotgun, brought it inside and placed it on the restaurant counter next to the cash register. The victim also told police Hill had three shotgun shells with him and she felt threatened.

The victim called 911 and deputies arrived, took the weapon and placed Hill under arrest.

Hill pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated assault as part of a plea bargain. He was sentenced to six months in St. Charles Parish prison and receives credit for time served.

The incident also violated his parole from a previous case in which he was given a two-year deferred sentence with parole for cocaine possession. That sentence is being executed now in concurrence with the assault sentence.

He is serving his sentence at Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility.
