Armed invaders tie up victims, ransack house

A Destrehan woman and her daughter were tied up and held at gunpoint Monday morning when a group of men robbed their home on Murray Hill Drive, according to police.

Sheriff Greg Champagne said that at about 11 a.m., a black male pretending to need assistance convinced a resident to open the door to her home. He then forced the homeowner back into her residence with a handgun while two other partially-masked black men entered. The three tied up the woman and her daughter and ransacked the home looking for valuables.

“They were only in the house for a few minutes,” said Capt. Pat Yoes with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say the men are estimated to be 30-40 years old, but Yoes said they could be as old as 50.

Witnesses reported seeing a small four-door grey car in the area driven by a black male.

Officials would not release any further information as of press time.

Police are currently working to investigate the situation and follow-up on leads. If anyone has any information or sees anyone suspiciously casing a neighborhood, police ask that you call 911 immediately.

The individuals involved are presumed to be armed and dangerous.
