It seems a little bit of St. Charles Parish culture could end up on TV this year. That is if Agent Dwayne Pride of the “NCIS: New Orleans” team has anything to say about it.
CBS producers of the show, which debuted in September of last year, contacted the St. Charles Parish Rotary Club and asked for posters of the Alligator Festival, which is the longest running event in St. Charles Parish.
According to the Rotary, the posters are for use in an upcoming show this season. The military-police drama was renewed in January of this year and begins taping soon.Rotary Club member Carl Cantrelle said producers originally contacted the Rotary Club for posters.
“I asked if they could use T-shirts and she said to bring them by and she would get them to the wardrobe department,” Cantrelle said.
‘NCIS: New Orleans’ stars Scott Bakula, Lucas Black and C.C.H Pounder of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ fame. They are NCIS field agents working cases in New Orleans, much like their counterparts, Jethro “Leroy” Gibbs and Anthony DiNozzo, who work cases in Washington, D.C., on the original show, now in its 11th season.
The series has been praised for its use of music, how it showcases New Orleans and for the CBS decision to cast Scott Bakula in the title role, who has been described as the “most likeable man on television,” according to The Wrap’s Jason Hughes.
The Alligator Festival, held at West Bridge Park is in its 36th season and will be held on Sept. 25-27.
The festival offers Louisiana food, fun and family entertainment. It also sponsors the Annual Alligator Festival Classic Golf Tournament with a four-person scramble format on Oct. 24. In addition, there is a 5K race and half-mile run for children, arts and crafts, plus live music all weekend long.
Children can even see baby alligators.
All proceeds go to college scholarships and is the largest private scholarship provider in St. Charles Parish. It is sponsored by community volunteers, local business and this year possibly the team from ‘NCIS: New Orleans.’
Maybe Scott Bakula will don the “Mr. Alligator” hat himself.
