Alleged sex victim, parents file suit against former Destrehan High teacher

Seek damages in sex case

A civil lawsuit has been filed seeking damages from former Destrehan High School teacher Kimberly Naquin, who was accused of having sex with a 16 year-old female student, and the St. Charles Parish School Board.

Parish Clerk of Court Lance Marino confirmed the suit was filed and the record sealed from public access. The lawsuit was filed recently in  the 29th Judicial District Court.

Naquin was charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and prohibited sexual conduct between a student and educator in St. Charles Parish.

A family member of the student reported the relationship to authorities.

In July, she was charged with one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile in Jefferson Parish.

The relationship allegedly began when the student was 16 years old and continued to age 17.

The sexual encounters allegedly occurred in both St. Charles and Jefferson parishes from October 2014 to August 2015. Investigators said the student reported most of them occurred at Naquin’s former residence in Kenner.

This is the second suit seeking damages filed against the school system involving a teacher-student scandal.

In May, the parents of a then 16-year-old male student sued Shelley Dufresne, also a former DHS teacher, and the school system for damages.

A month earlier, Dufresne pleaded guilty to a felony count of obscenity in a plea deal that included admitting to engaging in a prohibited sexual relationship with a student.

Naquin is one of five St. Charles parish public school teachers accused of having inappropriate sexual conduct with a student or students since 2008.

In May, Jeremy Eusea, 30, an athletic trainer and educator at Hahnville High School, was arrested and charged with inappropriate conduct with a 17 year-old student and sexual battery.

In the same week, Eusea was arrested again and charged with five counts of sexting a 16 year-old from 2010-11.
