2 employees robbed outside of Zydeco’s

Were approached by gunman while on break, police say

Authorities are still searching for a gunman who robbed two women while they were sitting outside of Zydeco’s II in Boutte, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The women, who both worked at the restaurant, told police that they were taking a break at 10:55 p.m. last Tuesday when they were approached by another woman and asked how they were doing. Seconds later, a man armed with a gun approached the victims, ordered them to lie on the ground and demanded all of their money, according to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

After taking a purse and wallet the two suspects fled west on Highway 90.

The two victims were able to get to a nearby business and contact police, LaGrange said.

The woman who distracted the two victims was described as a black female who was between 5’5-5’8 and weighed around 165 pounds. She was wearing a purple tank top.

The man who robbed the women was described as a black male, between 6’2-6’4 and weighing 135 pounds. He was wearing a green muscle shirt.

“This situation could have turned out badly but the victims did the right thing by complying with the robber’s demands,” LaGrange said.

The incident is under investigation and anyone having information about the crime is asked to contact Det. Christopher Baird at (985) 783-1135 or (985 ) 783-6807.
