Hurst teacher receives National Board Certification
Carla Murphy, a special education teacher at Hurst Middle School recently received National Board Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist – Early Childhood through Young Adult.  National Board Certification is achieved upon successful completion of a voluntary assessment program designed to recognize effective and accomplished teachers who meet high standards based on what teachers should know and be able to do. Ms. Murphy has been teaching at HMS for 7 years.

HHS teachers get QSM grants
Hahnville High School teachers Mary Hoffman,  Wendy Rodrigue and Shannon Niceley recently received QSM Grants.    Hoffman will use her grant in the science department to purchase DVDs on Meiosis and Mitosis.  She will be using multiple learning techniques to improve test scores and help students to comprehend these topics. Rodrigue will use her grant in the math department to buy instructional videos for financial math and Niceley will use his grant in the science department to purchase interactive software for use in the Biology I, Biology II and AP Biology courses.
