Jena Troxler has been hired to lead the St. Charles Parish Office of Animal Control.
Troxler, who has served as veterinarian for the St. Charles Humane Society, will lead a staff of seven employees at the animal shelter in Luling by integrating medicine and management to streamline the office’s services.
“I’m pleased to announce that we have found a candidate who will take the helm of the Animal Control Office,” said Parish President Larry Cochran. “Dr. Troxler will lead and enhance our top-notch facility with customer-service as a priority.”
Troxler worked in private practice and as Humane Society veterinarian since 2008, providing on-site medical care for the St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter. She has a degree in veterinary medicine from LSU and a bachelor’s of science degree in biology-chemistry from Loyola University.
While working as a microbiology research specialist in school, she was a member of a team of scientists who discovered and marketed the test used in diagnosing Lyme disease in dogs. She is experienced soft tissue surgery, client education, local law, disaster relief plans and feral cat education and sterilization.
Troxler replaced Leonie Agurcia who served as interim animal control supervisor since January.
