Mardi Gras is certainly in the air … in fact my computer screen has sparkles on it and I don’t have any idea where they came from.
Since we have 16 grandchildren, 11 of them being 6 and under, they could have come from anywhere.
A special congratulations goes to Eula Champagne who told me she is very excited about being Grand Marshal in the Luling parade on Saturday.
You know, Eula’s husband of 57 years, Herbert is the watchmaker in St. Charles Parish.
He is the one whose ad has appeared probably longer than anyone else’s in our classified section. He can repair your watch or put in a battery if you need him to.
Congratulations also to King and Queen of Lul Donald and Betty Muller, and King and Queen of Des Allemands Herman and Linda Kelone. Also, Kudos to Grand Marshal of Des Allemands, Emily Naquin.

Well it is a luxurious salon and spa just a stone’s throw from Bits and Pieces Antiques Shop in Paradis … it is even open on Mondays. And you’re in for a treat.
I found this recipe for quick cobbler in my mother-in-law’s recipe binder. Since quick is the name of the game these days, here it is:
Quick Cobbler
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of self-rising flour
1 cup of milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
Method:
1. Grease a deep baking dish and add 1 stick of butter or margarine, cut in pieces.
2. Mix well and then add 2 1/2 cans of sliced peaches, juice and all. Don’t stir after this.
3. Bake at 325 to 350 degrees until brown and set.
