Pockets
By Zachary Wilson
Holding things so dearly,
you never let me down
You’re my idea of a warm place during winter,
and you’re the perfect substitute for gloves,
you keep me close to her,
as we hug and she slides her hands into you.
It makes me happy how you can hold anything I need,
and I know you’ll keep them safe.
I enjoy how I can sometimes reach into you,
only to find scraps of papers which hold old ideas,
and those ideas turned into this.
The lint builds up inside of you,
and I pick the pieces out,
pulling you apart.
But you never seem to fall apart,
and your threads hold strong.
You’re my pockets,
and I’m glad to call you mine.
