St. Rose woman graduates among 200 cadets with Youth program

Amanda Aguilar of St. Rose was among more than 200 cadets who graduated from the Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program at Gillis W. Long Center in a ceremony at Bethany Church – South in Baton Rouge on March 24.

The Honorable Ralph Abraham, United States House of Representatives, District 5, was present to deliver the commencement address to the graduating class.

The mission of the Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program is to intervene in and reclaim the lives of 16-18 year-old adolescents, producing program graduates with the values, life skills, education, and self-discipline necessary in order to succeed as productive citizens.

This second chance program offers young people an opportunity to improve their lives through participation in an innovative, alternative school.
