St. Charles volunteers, religious leaders, principal honored for supporting Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts Louisiana East recognized its adult volunteers at the council’s annual meeting on April 16.Among those honored were Girl Scout volunteers Christy Crotwell of Luling and Melinda Ordoyne of Norco.

Outstanding religious leaders recognized included Rev. Ray Hymel of Destrehan; Rev. Tim Lawson of Des Allemands, and Outstanding Principal Steven Guitterrez of Destrehan.

The Appreciation Pin distinguishes individuals with exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Christy Crotwell and Melinda Ordoyne were awarded this honor.

In addition to leading her troop, Crotwell restarted her service unit’s summer day camp and became a First LEGO League coach. Ordoyne, fairly new to her leadership role, brings an energetic and spirited attitude to her efforts.

To show appreciation for community leaders in their area, Girls Scouts and adult volunteers nominate individuals who acting on the mission and values of the Girl Scout organization.
