St. Charles Parish Grants Officer graduates from the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute program

St. Charles Parish Grants Officer, Carla Chiasson graduated from the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI) program on May 9.

The leadership program is a nine-month program focused on key issues that impact the region’s economy and quality of life. The program accepts approximately 40 participants from around the ten parish region while aiming to create value through education, networking opportunities and leadership skills building.

“The NORLI program has been an amazing experience. Not only have I connected with leaders throughout the region, I’ve learned about the history and current issues surrounding each topic and discussed the future of each with field experts,” said Chiasson. “The class also completed Emergenetics Profiles that showed our individual preferences in four thinking attributes – analytical, structural, conceptual, and social. It turns out I am strongest in analytical, but have high preferences in all attributes, which is very rare!”

Chiasson has worked for the Grants Office since 2009, and has served as the Parish’s Grants Officer since 2016.
Additionally, Chiasson holds both a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans. Through her tenure in the Grants Office, she has contributed to the award of $114.7 million dollars for St. Charles Parish. Of that total, $22.7 million was awarded under her direction.

“I am excited for Carla and wish to congratulate her for graduating from NORLI. This is a significant accomplishment and very deserving,” said Parish President Larry Cochran. “I think her hard work and dedication in completing this program will provide continued success for both Carl and the Grants Department.”

After applying, Chiasson was selected and also received a $500 grant from NORLI to assist with the tuition.

“Carla played a key role in not only representing the River Region, but also in bringing her experiences in St. Charles Parish Government and her background in grant writing to our monthly discussions, said Executive Director of NORLI, Stephen Reuther. “We’re very deliberate in building out classes where individuals contribute to the diversity of thought and experience, and Carla’s interactions challenged the class to be more thoughtful and interactive for a more immersive and meaningful experience. She was a great contributor, and her impact was definitely noted.”

Other St. Charles Parish Government NORLI alumni include:

Anedra Coleman, Assistant Director / Community Center Coordinator

Clayton Faucheux, Public Works Director

Dayna Parker, Personnel Officer

NORLI is currently accepting applications for the class of 2020 until May 31. Anyone interested in applying or for more information on the program can visit www.norli.org.
