RJ Vial kids have a blast at the annual Cajun Open House

R.J. Vial Elementary School students filled the grounds around the school’s main building wearing their gold spirit shirts and ready to have fun at the school’s annual Cajun Open House.

From pinwheel games to the dunking booth, third, fourth, fifth and sixth graders gathered together for a fun-filled afternoon and well deserved break from the lessons of their classrooms.

“I think that this event gives elementary school students the chance to break away from their studies and really get the chance to have fun with their friends at school,” said parent Michelle Montage.

“I know that my daughter started getting excited about the event days before.”

The students also participated in a prize raffle drawing and line danced to the beats of authentic Cajun music – and the teachers has a little fun also, doing a little do-si-do with the kids.

“On of the biggest highlights of the day for the kids was the dunking booth,” said Montage.

“The kids practiced their aim and tried really hard to dunk teachers and volunteers.

Also on tap at the school’s Cajun Open House were snowballs, yummy snacks and treats, stuffed animals and photographs taken in a traditional pirogue with a swampscape backdrop.

“My daughter, who is in third grade, really enjoyed this year’s open house and is looking forward to next year’s event,” said Montage.
