River Region Chamber celebrates 10 years

The River Region Chamber of Commerce (RRCC) celebrated 10 years of service to the St. John, St. James and St. Charles Parish businesses Friday, June 20 at the Cypress Lakes Country Club in Destrehan.

The celbration’s toast was given by longtime supporter and Port of South Louisina Director Paul Aucoin and Conley Dutriex, founding chairman.

In his comments, Aucoin reminisced on how far the Chamber has come and how much growth has taken place in the past decade. He also stressed the importance of teamwork and regionalism.

Dutriex gave praise to the organization’s leaders.

“We need strong leaders to help us to continue to grow, and I think that starts at the top with our board and executive director,” Dutriex said.

Keeping with Dutriex’s comments, RRCC has gained six new members in recent weeks and looks forward to welcoming more with the help of current members. A ribbon cutting was held on Monday, June 23, at Work Day Café and another is scheduled for July 10 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Charles Hospital Cardiovascular Institute of the South, as well as a groundbreaking for Legacy Suites location in St. James Parish.
