Recent high school grad opens new snowball stand in Luling

Evan Adams is a 2022 Hahnville High School graduate.

Evan Adams may have just graduated from Hahnville High School this past spring, but that didn’t stop him from creating something that he knew the Luling community needed.

“We had the idea to open in early May,” he said. “I knew I wasn’t going to want to go to college, so I wanted to do something that we needed in the community. When Ida took Oak Lane Snowballs I saw we were missing a snowball stand, so we went ahead and went for it.”

Easy E’s Blue Bug Snowballs opened on July 2. Adams, a Luling resident, said the operation employees five people. His dad, Claude Adams, is helping him to get started with the business.

The stand is located at 12349 Highway 90 in Luling, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.

“One of my favorite things about it so far is just proving that I can do something outside of going to school and working for someone else,” he said. “It’s a really good start.”

Adams said his stand has traveled to a couple of events so far this summer, including a football camp and car show.

“But we really want a permanent location that kids can ride their bikes to,” he said.

Plans are to keep the stand open year around, and to offer more food items during the winter. Pup cups – snowball treats created for dogs – have been a big hit so far on social media.

“Business has been great,” Adams said. “We’ve been seeing a lot of friendly faces from throughout the community. They’ve been giving us a lot of support and feedback. We really appreciate it.”
