BORN AND RAISED

Liza Jackson grew up in Hahnville, and said now living and working in the same community is fulfilling beyond words. Jackson has spent the last year working at Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Norco, where as the learning advisor she works to ensure that the site’s employees are competent and up-to-date on training procedures and standards.

SHAPING THE FUTURE

Jackson helps to run the Sagacious Forum, which sends out community partners into local high schools and technical schools with the goal of teaching students interview techniques and other job and workforce skills.

“I’ve always been involved with the community, and I’ve always been involved with the youth,” she said. “Growing up I was in several different programs like this, so I know the difference they make. I have a heart and a passion for youth … for women …. to see us all succeed and be successful. I just love to see people reach their full potential, reach their goals and overcome their fears and challenges.”

She said it is hard to put into words how much she enjoys working with the young people who she relates to so well.

“I feel in my heart that I’m doing the right thing and that I’m making an impact.”
