Hahnville student to jam on Letterman

It’s a dream that’s come true, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime – at least for Des Allemands sophomore Trevor Arthur.

With guitar in hand, Arthur was invited to join Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & the Zydeco Twisters on stage at last weekend’s annual Louisiana Catfish Festival, and now the band wants to take him on the road – all the way to New York City – to join them as they perform for all to see on the Late Show with David Letterman.

“Dopsie was talking to the audience at the festival about Louisiana talent and how he promotes it everywhere he goes and how the band will be traveling out of the country for a few weeks,” said Arthur. “Then he invited me and my dad, Brian, to go to the David Letterman show with them.”

Rockin’ Dopsie & the Zydeco Twisters describe their music as a bubbling, melodic gumbo concocted from Cajun and Acadian harmonies and blues.

The band, who is currently in negotiations with CBS, was impressed by Arthur’s young talent, saying that he has a great future ahead of him.

Arthur is a sophomore at Hahnville High School and a member of the HHS drumline. He also plays the both acoustic and electric guitar – six and 12-string.

“He’s a natural talent,” said his mother, Kandy Arthur. “His inclination for music runs in the family. He inherited it from his father, Brian Sr., who also played drums in school.”

Arthur has also been invited to play with the band at the Gretna Heritage Festival and at the New Orleans Saints home opener.
