Why do I need to learn about financial literacy?
Dear Mr. Suffrin: I’ve been reading your Moneytalk column in the Herald-Guide every week. I am only a student and still live at home with my parents. So, why do I need to worry now about being financially literate? – Just Asking in Des Allemands
Dear Just Asking: I am glad to here that you are taking an interest in Moneytalk.
Financial literacy is important, no matter what your age.
It’s never too early to start saving for college or for other items you may want, like an MP3 player or a car.
And when you’re older, your parents will no longer take care of your finances – you’ll need to do it yourself.
Also, understanding how money works helps you achieve what you want in life.
With some financial education, you’ll be able to manage your money so that you can achieve your dreams.
