When English rocker Ozzy Osbourne’s photo appeared on Truck Farm Tavern’s Facebook page, the usual 700 views skyrocketed to more than 30,000.
Standing on both sides of restaurant owner Scott Bourgeois in the photo were Osbourne and his son, Jack.
“The producer called to say we got great reviews,” Bourgeois said of his restaurant and of the rocker’s arrival. Once it was confirmed they handled private parties, it was decided, “It might be a great place for Ozzy and his gang to hang out.”
Thirty minutes later, the Osbournes with their gang of about 30 people arrived around 1:30 p.m. They stayed about an hour and were back on the road.
“It was pretty quick,” Bourgeois said. “We fed them and they left.”
They were in the neighborhood – literally.
Bourgeois said the Osbournes were filming at the LaBranche Plantation Dependency House, also in St. Rose, for the “Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour” travelogue docuseries airing on the History Channel. He added Osbourne also visited his horse’s grave in the Almeida community. On Wednesday, they went to Avery Island, he said.
“They act like tourists,” Bourgeois said of the Osbournes’ travelogue docuseries that began airing in 2016. “They’re driving all the way to Alaska in a little RV.”
Just a day earlier, an Osbourne sighting also popped up around Lafayette and New Iberia.
Ozzy, one of the pioneers of the celebrity reality show genre, is featured along with his family in the docuseries. Ozzy and Jack head out on a father-son journey as “history nerds.” They’re visiting iconic, historically significant landmarks on their bucket list, like Mount Rushmore and the Alamo.
Bourgeois said he’s an Ozzy fan.
“It’s kind of hard not to be,” he said. “He’s one of the greatest.”
