Lamberts reign over Krewe of Lul

Eden Isles couple chosen King and Queen of Annual Krewe of Lul parade

The Krewe of Lul will parade on February 25 on the traditional route in Luling. The 2006 King and Queen of the annual parade are Emile “Chops” Lambert and Hilda “Mim” Guidry Lambert of Eden Isles, Louisiana. The couple was chosen to reign over the parade after the loss of their residence due to Hurricane Katrina.
They currently live part time in various places including their FEMA trailer in Eden Isles, their son’s home in Denhem Springs and the residence of Hilda’s sister Pepper Brown of Luling. This couple is remarkably enthusiastic about their reign over the Krewe of Lul despite their recent tragedies.

The couple will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on March 3, just a week after the parade is set to roll. They have two sons and seven grandchildren.

Both are retired, Mim worked as a manicurist for D.H. Holmes. In addition to her job at D.H Holmes she also worked as a secretary at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in New Orleans East. Chops was a steamfitter with the Local 60 and worked with commercial A/C & Heating. He was also involved with real estate as a realtor in New Orleans. Chops also served as an engineer at the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans before retiring.

Mim is not much of a fan of Mardi Gras, however, Chops and his sons are a totally different story. Chops and the boys have been members of several New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewes. Chops and Mim are extremely honored and grateful to have been chosen to reign this year as the King and Queen of the Krewe of Lul.
