HHS student raises money for Shriners Hospital Burn Unit

Hahnville High School senior Taylor Petit has been raising money for the Shriners Pediatric Burn Unit as part of her Senior Project.

The Shriners have pediatric hospitals all over the country providing free healthcare to children.

To raise the money, Petit held a competition between the faculty at school in which students donated money in a jar for the faculty member that they wanted to see dressed up as a clown for a day.

Assistant Principal, Laura Abbey and Jose Gonzales received the most money.  Over $100 was collected for the competition.

Petit also collected about $110 during the football season by asking for donations at the concession stands. She raised over $210 to donate to the Burn Unit.  After raising the money, she volunteered with the Shriners for their annual haunted house and circus.

Because she donated the money to the Burn Unit, Petit also taught a fire safety class to 4th grade students at Lakewood Elementary and organized a poster contest there.
