NEW SARPY – New Sarpy Kindergarten Center celebrated multi-cultural week in February.

Hahnville’s whiz kids are wild about robots

BOUTTE – The HHS robotics team was a member of the 2nd place alliance in the FIRST Robotics Competition.
A total of 37 teams from Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas participated in the competition. This was Hahnville’s first year to participate. HHS team members were Justin Aubert, Danielle Baudouin, Jonathan Dejean, Matthew Jewell, Nick Massimini, Samantha May, Jack Prendergast, Megan Rook, Devin Samaha, Michael Voisel and Gabe Zeringue. FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with science and technology to create a unique varsity sport for the mind. It helps high school aged young people discover the rewarding and engaging world of innovation and engineering. The students learn skills in relationships, teamwork, finance, and project management. This competition is supported by NASA, BLAST, Inc. (Building Louisiana’s Science and Technology), Stennis Space Center, Tulane University, University of New Orleans and others.
2nd graders make like fish under the sea

ST. ROSE – St. Rose Elementary second grade students in Miss Amy Lind’s class took a field trip to the aquarium to study animals and their habitats.
Participants were Darielle Armstrong, Tracey Baker, Gabrielle Saucier, Fabian Jenkins, and Cortez Crayton.

DES ALLEMANDS – Students at Allemands Elementary School enjoyed stories told by Alana Villavaso, known as Ms. Vee, a performer for Young Audience.
First grader, Dylan Songe played the part of an eagle that thought he was a chicken until a friendly neighbor taught him how to fly like an eagle.
