Harry Hurst Middle School announces 2018 – 19 School Teacher of the Year

Aubrey Hager has been namedHarry Hurst Middle School’s 2018 -19 Teacher of the Year.

This is Hager’s sixth year at Hurst  teaching sixth grade English and Language Arts.

She was nominated along with several of her peers for the honor. Following nominations, the faculty voted, narrowing  contenders from 11 to three. Administrators then observed teachers to choose the top teacher.

When it comes to teaching, Hager chooses to create a comforting atmosphere in her classroom for her students.

Hurst sixth grader Tavon Walker appreciates Hager’s creativity.

“Mrs. Hager’s class makes you want to work as best as you can,” said Walker. “She makes the work so it is possible to be fun.”

Hurst sixth grader Kaitlyn Housewright agreed.

“Mrs. Hager is nice and caring,” said Housewright, “She works very hard to create lessons for us to enjoy learning but at the same time learn the information we need to know.”

Sixth grader Jared Harmon summed it up best.

“Mrs. Hager is perfect for the Hurst Teacher of the Year because she is fair, very nice and very thoughtful of all of the students in her classes,” Harmon said.

Hager said she loves being a because she enjoys helping students grow academically and as people.

She added, “Having the opportunity to play even a small part in a child’s life is such a blessing, and it is an honor to help provide the foundation for a student’s life-long success.”

Hager is a teacher who is greatly respected by her peers, her students and administrators.

She’ll represent Hurst and its core values well at the district level as she moves on to compete for the district title of Middle School Teacher of the Year.
