Sarah Elizabeth Hammett and Strother Lee Sacra, Jr., announce their engagement to be married.
The nuptials will take place Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge.
The bride is the daughter of Rev. Michael Hammett and Rev. Kim Hammett, of Baton Rouge.
She is the granddaughter of the late Lewis Hammett, Mrs. Marie Hammett of Baton Rouge, and Mr. and Mrs. Guy and Lucy Havard, of Central.
The bride is a graduate of Hahnville High School in Boutte. She received her B.A. in secondary education from Louisiana State University and her M.A. in English education. She is currently a senior English teacher and dance team coach at West Feliciana High School in St. Francisville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Strother and Ruth Sacra, Sr. of Luling.
He is the grandson of the late John Sacra, Mrs. Marjorie Sacra of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Captain and Mrs. Harold and Elizabeth Smith of Poplarville, Mississippi.
The groom-elect is a graduate of Hahnville High School and received his B.S. in maritime transportation from Texas A&M University. He is a dynamic positioning officer and second mate with J. Ray McDermott.
