Drama guild suits up for adult theater workshop

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at acting, or refresh and refine your technique, then the River Region Drama Guild’s adult theater workshop is for you. The guild will focus on improvisations and contemporary scene work. Participants will be paired up with appropriate partners for scenes.

Whether you are a beginning or advanced actor, guild workers say that this workshop is perfect for you.

Participants are on their feet in every class and each session contains games, scene work, specific assignment and cool-down. The workshop will culminate in a final performance.

The guild’s workshop is designed for both novices and veterans who want to take to the stage, enjoy theater games, improvisation, and, best of all, laughter.

Novices will learn the basic techniques of stage acting which are using your voice, body and mind to pursue objectives, overcome obstacles, create characters and scenes and work as an ensemble. Veterans will have the opportunity to expand your performance skills and develop your acting technique as you practice and present scenes.

Ever watch actors and wonder, how did they do that? Here is your chance to find out! In this workshop, we will introduce you to the basics of acting through improvisational games and skits.

This free workshop will be held for eight evenings beginning on Oct. 6 and ending Oct. 16, Monday through Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the River Region Performing Arts and Cultural Center located at 15146 River Road in Norco.
