DHS crowns king and queen

On Friday, Oct. 17, Destrehan High School crowned Paige Hebert and Rufus Porter as the school’s homecoming king and queen. Paige is the daughter of James Hebert and Joh’anna Walker Hebert.

She served as 2nd lieutenant during the 2007-08 school year, and is now the 1st lieutenant of the cheerleading squad and has received the Character Education Award from her teammates.

Paige has participated in Girls State, Student Council – serving as 2008-09 student body vice president and secretary during 2007-08, Talented Drama, Culture Club Stomp Team, Powder Puff, Prom Committee, and as a peer support leader.

Paige plans to attend Kilgore College and become a Rangerette.

Rufus is the son of Anita Lawson Porter and Rufus Porter Sr.

He is one of the leaders of the defense for the Fighting Wildcat football team, and received 2nd Team All-District in 2007-08.

He led the team in tackles in 2007-08, and was ranked 46th Best WS Linebacker in the country by Rivals.com.

Rufus is also one of the “Top Five” outside linebacker prospects in Louisiana.

He plans to attend college to study law enforcement and become a member of S.W.A.T team.
