Catherine Anne Clesi and Donald Joseph Haydel III were married on April 12, 2008 at St. Joseph Plantation in Vacherie. The bride’s parents are Gerogia Langford Clesi of Covington and the late Frank Anthony Clesi. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sindey P. Langford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Clesi of Metairie.
The groom’s parents are Donald and Patricia Haydel of Hammond. His grandparents are Nora Babin Haydel of Destrehan and the late Donald Haydel Sr., and the late Bob and Thelma Cleveland who resided in Hammond and were Norco residents for many years.
Four massive moss-draped oak trees created an outdoor room for the guests’ enjoyment during the ceremony and reception. Floral arrangements featuring protea, chocolate roses, fantasia roses, gerber daisies, tulips, fresh eucalyptus and iris from the groom’s mother’s yard adorned the entrance to the plantation.
Guests were greeted by the sounds of bagpipes played by Stanley Masinter, pipe major of the Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums of the Caldonian Society.
Registering guests were Connie Cardella, aunt of groom and Jamie Mancuso, Godmother of the groom.
The couple exchanged vows on the balcony of the plantation home in a double-ring ceremony officiated by Melve Cavanaugh, Justice of the Peace.
Escorted by her mother and sister, the bride wore a sophisticated ivory silk taffeta gown by Anjolique. The gown featured an intricate hand-beaded bodice with an asymmetrical-ruched waist. The back of the gown was accented with silk covered buttons and a chapel length train. Her veil was designed and made by her mother. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of fantasia roses and tree fern wrapped with ocean-blue organza ribbons.
The matron of honor was Beth Clesi, sister of the bride. The maid of honor was Myla Dixon. The bridesmaids were Tiffany Boudreaux, Michelle Mayfield and Brittany Brennan, all friends of the bride.
The groom wore a dark khaki linen suit, white shirt, and blue and green tie. The best man was Jon Landry, his cousin. The groomsmen were Jude Mancuso, also his cousin, and Jason Crosby, Mike Boudreaux and Scott Hawsey, friends of the groom.
The bride’s cake was a four-tiered buttercream confection with ambrosia and white chocolate mousse filling. It was decorated with ocean-blue organza ribbon and fantasia roses. The groom, a mountain bike enthusiast, had a two-tiered chocolate cake decorated with chocolate buttercream latticework and chocolate-dipped strawberries. A chocolate bicycle adorned the top tier. The groom’s mother made both cakes.
Following a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple now reside in Prairieville.
