Christmas in St. Charles Parish

It was the perfect way to ring in the holiday season, the gleeful laughter of children and the sparkle of magic in Santa Claus’ eyes at St. Charles Parish’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Volunteers from the local chapter of the American Red Cross were on hand to serve warm and tasty hot chocolate to children and their parents as they arrived to the West Bank Bridge Park on Thursday, Dec. 6.

The Allemands Elementary Cajun Dancers opened the event and performed their signature dances like the Zydeco Train, the Couples Dance and the Jambalaya – just to name a few.

The sweet sounds and rosy cheeks of the Norco 4-6 Elementary Choir followed and heralded in the crowds for a singsong of traditional Christmas carols.

Jolly Ol’ St. Nick arrived for the festivities atop a bright red fire engine to greet the eager children awaiting their turn to sit on Santa’s lap.

Parish President Albert Laque and St. Charles Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Rodney Lafon attended the event that ended with Laque lighting the parish’s Christmas tree for more than 200 patrons to see.

Merry Christmas St. Charles Parish!
