Reviewed by Derek Walker

The Cosmos is a book written by Carl Sagan in 1985-1986.

Carl Sagan wrote this book to convey his sense of wonder of the cosmos. He wanted to educate the public on the latest scientific discoveries regarding the Cosmos, the origin of life, and our place in the cosmos.

The Cosmos explores place of humans in the universe. Sagan touches on a broad range of topics covering philosophy, physics, chemistry, biology, and history. The book itself is a small journey. It begins with development of life on earth and the progress of science. From there it talks about humans’ place in the Solar System, then the galaxy and then the entire cosmos. Each step in the journey touches on different subjects like alien life or the development of the universe. By the end of the book, Sagan has explored the entire cosmos.

Cosmos is a fantastic book for anybody with even a mild interest in science. Sagan’s passion oozes through the pages, and if you are indifferent to science before the book, you will certainly like it afterwards.
