In the short time since St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter Supervisor Jena Troxler started bringing rescue animals to the Luling Living Center, it became abundantly clear a good thing was coming together on Wednesdays.“My eyes lit up because I knew our ideas of pets and seniors was about to blossom,” Troxler said. “The compassion, love and happiness that came from our visit was so awesome.”
Best news of all came with the following week’s visit when she saw center residents waiting outdoors the entrance to visit with the animals.
At Mimosa Park Elementary School, Troxler and her dog, Quincy, met with students Feb. 3 to discuss the importance of animal care and a career as a veterinarian. Quincy happily helped demonstrate animal care, and Troxler discussed the Give-a-Lick program, which allows families to tour the animal shelter, as well as interact and read with the animals.
