The River Region Chamber of Commerce’s first Chocolate Crawl will have something for everyone – the chance for local businesses to attract new customers and the chance for customers to satisfy their sweet tooth.
The Chamber is hosting the special event, which will feature chocolate stops throughout shops in the River Parishes, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The event kicks off Feb. 8 and ends Feb. 15.
There is no cost to anyone to participate in the crawl. The Chamber is providing individually wrapped chocolates to each business who signs up to participate and visiting customers will receive the candy free of charge.
Rebecca Norris, who works in events and member services for the Chamber, said she hopes the crawl will spread cheer throughout the River Parishes.
“Maybe residents will stumble upon a business they never knew about, and this will hopefully encourage them to shop local,” Norris said. “We have to support one another, especially right now. The pandemic has affected so many people and businesses in so many ways. We need to keep this money in our community.”
Norris said she hopes the event also gives local business owners more foot traffic and exposure.
“We’re hoping this will help out our small businesses that have had a rough year due to the pandemic,” she said.
The list of participating businesses will be posted of the Chamber’s website – www.riverregionchamber.org – and Facebook and Instagram pages Feb. 2.
“The list will be at the stops,” Norris said. “We are encouraging patrons to show some social media love by checking in at their stops, tagging us and using the #shoplocal hashtag.”
Businesses can sign up to participate in the Chocolate Crawl by calling the Chamber at 985-359-9777 or emailing email@example.com. The deadline to sign up is February 1.
