States can solve many problems better

The stage is set for the push toward democracy, not just in the mideast but here in the United States as well.

While protesters are yelling for change in Tripoly and Egypt and other nearby countries, governors of many states here are telling the feds to stay out of our business, and let us solve our budget shortfall problems at the lower level.

The states, reportedly, have made $75 billion in budget cuts and raised taxes $33 billion in the last two years to help cure the lack of cash caused by the recession. Now they are developing ways to remake state governments that will meet their budgets.

The states can do that much better than the federal government. Helping to spread democratic practices in other areas of the world is the feds job. That will help preserve peace, end terrorism and promote freedom for people of other nations.

Meanwhile, here at home we should downsize the federal government and let state and  local governments run their areas more which will get democracy down to the people where it can do the most good.

We need to cut federal taxes so the local governments can decide where to tax and spend. It is obvious that it costs much more for the federal government to do a job at the local level that the local government. Such a turnaround would provide much more efficiency in government and would cut out a lot of government expense that is not necessary.

That money can then be used by the people to improve the economy, something that will never be done if it goes to Washington.
