New evidence shows that human skin cells can be reprogrammed into embryonic-like stem cells. This means it is not necessary to kill human embryos to provide the cells that reportedly can do much to advance medical science.
Those who believe human life begins at conception and destroying an embryo amounts to killing a human life take this news with great joy. This should thwart the efforts of some politicians to provide taxpayer money to kill human life for that purpose.
We have Pres. George W. Bush to thank for this development because it was his veto that prevented the public money to be used for the life-killing legislation. As a result, further research is showing that the killing of human life is not necessary to produce the desired results.
But some members of Congress are adamant in wanting to kill live embryos. They have declared they will continue to pursue their goals of allowing taxpayer money to be used for embryonic stem cell research.
Their arguments, however, lose a lot of effect with this new evidence. And we’re sure the President’s veto pen will be ready if such a bill should lift its ugly head again.
