Is there an alternative to living on earth?

This writer became a Mars freak years ago when the big question in the universe was whether or not there was life on the closest planet to earth.

Learning more about our sister satellite of the Sun became an obsession. It involved pictures, books and nightime viewings to imagine the possibilities.

As time passed, it became pretty definite that there was no life of any earthly standard on Mars. Shucks.
On to chapter two. Now in a far off galaxy there appears to be another body of matter that seems to have the characteristics that could support life.

It ranges in temperature from 40 to 140 degrees F. Clouds encircle it.

It is three times bigger than earth but does not revolve which makes one side permanently cold and the other side hot. But the existence of water there portrays it as a life-bearing planet.

We probably will never know if it has life. It would take an earthling forever to get there at the speed of light if we had the means to do it

Maybe we’re not supposed to know everything about how the rest of the universe exists. But 1,000 years ago, we didn’t even know the earth was round.

Maybe someday we’ll find out what’s up there. Just like Mars, it excites the imagination.

Now, there’s a new movie out which reportedly portrays the earth as becoming a very filthy planet. Our neglect has made it almost uninhabitable.

And so, everybody fled to another planet but left an army of robots to clean up the earth. And prepare it for their return.

We haven’t seen the movie. But it should certainly give one something to think about.

Is there a chance we are getting so cluttered up with debris in real life that we will someday welcome the opportunity to evacuate to another planet if possible? And that debris may not include just trash but also people who interfere with our peaceful and loving way of life. It may be a good idea to go into outerspace and perhaps link it to the earth’s survival if needed.

Our ancestors migrated to the new world after they thought the world was flat. They fled to America to start a new way of life.

But let’s not count on space. We may have to put up with Planet Earth for the rest of our existence because so far we haven’t discovered where else we could go. We’d just better get to work and make life pleasant where we are.

But we’re still a Mars freak. Its’s fascinating to look up in the sky at night and wonder just what really exists up there that we don’t see. And just maybe . . .
