Kyle Aucoin-Melohn, a former teacher at Destrehan High School whose employment ended earlier this month, was arrested this morning (Dec. 27) by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for one count of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and student and one count of molestation of a juvenile.
Aucoin-Melohn is a 32-year-old male who resides at 4109 Cleveland Place in Metairie.
According to the SCPSO, Aucoin-Melohn allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with a male student who attended Destrehan High School. The alleged contact occurred from 2017-2020 at the school when the student was 16 and 17 years old.
The contact was first reported to the sheriff’s office through an anonymous tip on Dec. 1, 2022.
Through investigation, detectives obtained sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Aucoin-Melohn.
“This investigation was conducted with the full cooperation of the St. Charles Parish Schools,” a sheriff’s office statement reads. “The investigation is ongoing with their continued cooperation.”
St. Charles Parish Public Schools released their own statement.
“We are aware that a former Destrehan High School employee is currently under investigation by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office,” it reads. “The school system is cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office and is conducting its own investigation. The safety and well-being of our students remain priorities. No further information regarding the situation may be given as this is a personnel matter, and we are following the appropriate policy, procedures, and law for next steps.”
