The Saints are going to town. Chicago town, that is.
We were hoping it would be New Orleans town but that didn’t happen. Seattle almost did it but the number three seed that would have put the game in the Dome lost in overtime with a miracle field goal.
But does it matter? Looking at the weather report this week with freezing temperatures predicted for Soldier Field Sunday afternoon, we fear that us southerners might not be up to the frigid temperatures up there.
We’re used to the enclosed atmosphere of the Superdome. But then again, we have won more games on the road than at home in that Superdome. A good team does not have to feel at home. And it can usually overcome the discomforture of a little cold weather. After all, a lot of our players are used to that kind of weather.
Regardless of the outcome Sunday, the Saints have had a successful season, the best ever. They have the talent to win it. And if they do, they will move on to Miami to show the world that Southeast Louisiana is alive and well.
Global warming cools down
Al Gore would have a hard time convincing the people that we are in the midst of global warming in recent weeks.
Half the country has been suffering from severe cold weather that has caused cancellation of many commercial air flights and freezing of half the citrus crop in California, among other things.
Of course that does not mean that global warming is not a problem. It is certainly something that the civilized world must look at and determine what problems we face and how we can confront them.
