Fleur De Lane’s is celebrating its third year in business in St. Charles Parish and its growth has come in the best way – word of mouth.
“We’re thanking the community for the support,” said Elana Bourgeois-Folse, who owns the boutique with her mother Thelma Dodson. “It’s heartfelt to have the reaction of new customers when they come in the store. It’s meaningful when we have customers who keep coming back.”
The selection, quality and prices have kept them returning, and Bourgeois-Folse said they are telling their family and friends about it, too.
“The customers are wowed when they walk into the door,” she said. “They’re amazed at the merchandise and amount of it. They’re impressed with the variety of goods, quality and prices – and our personal service.”
Bourgeois-Folse said everyone wants that welcoming feeling, and it means a lot to them to make their customers feel welcome and want to come back.
“It gives that extra touch to what we offer here,” she said. Their wares still focus on the fleur-de-lis theme, but they’ve been expanding their line with items that reflect local culture and flare.
Of the many home décor items at the Boutte store, she said the hot sellers are home fragrances by Orleans Home Fragrances’ candle line, as well as Orleans’ Nu’ Wash fine laundry detergent. The Maison Berger Paris (formerly Lampe Berger) line, offering a wide variety, is a top product as well.
“If they’re looking for something we take that with us to market and we go with what’s ‘in’ or trending,” said Bourgeois-Folse. “We know about our items. We love to get feedback from customers that we can pass on to new customers.”
The mother-daughter duo compliment the business.
Bourgeois-Folse does the majority of the ordering that sets the trends and her mother does the displaying along with designs.
Dodson’s talent and gift is helping customers with decorating by talking to customers and determining what they’re looking for, Bourgeois-Folse said. She is focused on having a satisfied customer and seeks to exceed their expectations.
“We’re complimented on the way the store is decorated and displayed,” she said. “It gives them some sort of idea of when they get an item home how it can be displayed and getting that look.”
She added, “We’ve enjoyed making a lasting friendship with our customers.”
