Zumba for the cure at Anytime Fitness

Many parishioners know of Kyle Price Bergeron, a local boy who passed away from a rare form of Leukemia in 2006.

In his honor, family and friends have been trying to raise $10,000 each year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Once they reach that goal, the society will create a $50,000 research grant in Kyle’s name.

“I push and push every year,” said Vicki Bergeron, Kyle’s mother. “Every year we get so close – last year we missed it by $200.”

You can help to raise the money this year by attending one of two events this weekend.

On Friday, join Anytime Fitness in Luling for a “Zumba for the cure” class.

Admission is $25 and includes a t-shirt. Class will be at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and pre-registration is required by calling Cianna at Anytime Fitness, (985)308-1360.

For night owls, “Rappin for a reason” will be held in Kyle’s memory on Friday night to raise money for the society. Admission is $10 and the event begins at 9 p.m. at The Frat House, 8200 Willow St. in New Orleans.

Performances include Rantz Davis, Alia Fleury and more.
