Tin cans, fishing line and wood – oh my! Learn to make ‘junk music’ at library

LULING – Musician Mike Anderson will lead a “junk music” workshop Oct. 29 at West Regional Library on Lakewood Drive in Luling.

Tweens and teens are invited to attend. Anderson is mountain dulcimer player, singer, writer and storyteller. He will present a short talk on the history of musical instruments, and then participants will build a junk music instrument of their own using tin cans, fishing line and a chunk of wood.

Participants are asked to bring a hammer with them, if possible.

Also, two dulcimer presentations are planned for children and adults.

Presentations will be held Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at East Regional Library on River Oaks Drive in Destrehan and Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. at West Regional Library.
